How to Boost a Post with Facebook Ads

I am going to show you how to boost a post with Facebook Ads. So, I am actually doing a video. I also have a call to action – Get You Free 116 Page DIY Guide Here. And when they go there, let me show you where it would take them. It will take them to a landing page I made using lead pages. Something very special about this is I have it tracked up here so you can see the UTM tracking I have. This is so in Google Analytics I know that this was from a Facebook ad and I can see what the conversion rate is. Just because people click on it, does not mean that they actually convert. So, when they click on the free book, they have to put their email in and once they go through all the processes, I can see whether or not they converted.

So, let’s get back into the actual How to Boost the Post. Now that I have that. The first time I click Publish and it takes me to Create an Offer. All right so since this is a video, I have to fill in the stuff. So, I am going to fill this stuff in really quick. So, this is actually the first time I have seen this where it says Turn Your Posts Into an Offer. I am not going to do that right now. Right now this is just a video. So, no thank you. OK. So the video in your post is being processed. It will send you a notification when it is done and your post is ready to review. Once that is ready we are actually going to boost the post. All right.

So, the video is ready here now and there is that Boost Post button. So, if you are going to boost a post, let me explain the right way to do it and the wrong way to do it. You have a number of choices under Audiences. I personally think the wrong way to do it is to choose People Who Like Your Page. Definitely, do not do that or People Who Like Your Page and Their Friends. I guess People Who Like Your Page and Their Friends is all right but that is not my favorite way to do it. I actually like doing more direct targeting right away. Click People You Choose Through Targeting here. At this point, you can actually go through and do some really in-depth targeting. Or, if you already have a saved audience, which I do (I talked about this in my other video How to do a Saved Audience), you can just go to See All.  For this exercise, I really want to do this Dance Teacher Instructor Saved Audience that I made previously. So, let’s look at Budget and Duration. Under Total Budget, I am going to choose a total budget of $20 and let’s see what happens with Budget and Duration. Under Duration, I am going to choose 7 days. Yeah, that sounds good. Let’s do that for the duration. In fact, let’s go out and up the budget to $30. Why not choose a pixel option? We go to one that has a pixel already.  If you need this does not make sense, I have other tutorial videos that explain the pixel and other tutorial videos that explain the Save the Audience and, of course, how to pick your targeting. If you are going to do the targeting from scratch, I have a whole tutorial that gives you a lot of good information. So, I am going to go ahead and click Boost and I will let you know in a future video how this does.

Let’s just double-check this ad budget. It says $23 but I thought that I put $30. So, oh yeah, I wanted to add more, so let’s fix that. Nope, do not want to do that. Mobile news feed. Yep, go ahead and click Close and that is it. It should be boosted in just a second. There it is.
