How To Customize Automated Emails For Your Online Store

In this lesson we’re going to talk about customized emails I’m talking about the following emails that you send. So when someone purchased from you send follow-up emails usually automatically and these are a lot of times things that no one ever changes we’re planning on changing that in this section in this lesson. So basically one of the first things I’m talking about is the thank you email every shopping cart platform automatically sends the customer thank you email or seats they sometimes call it whatever and it’s usually really boring it’s something that nobody maybe you look at and you quickly archive or hit the back button delete forever I want to change that I want to change it. So when you send a thank-you email people look at it they laugh maybe they forward it to their friends if it’s really good or you know if nothing else there’s a lot of different things we’ll talk about on how you can optimize them the other thing that we talked about is follow ups a lot there’s a lot of times it’s like hey please rate my service or rate the product that you got there’s other kind of follow-up emails that are sent automatically the goal is to customize them and we’re going to talk about some tips on doing that but before I do I want to read to you the famous CD baby email. So here we go this is the email that is sent after you purchase something from CD baby it may have changed by now but this wasn’t originally when the company was started this is the email that was sent. So here we go

“Your CD has been gently taken from our CD Baby shelves with sterilized contamination free gloves placed onto a satin pillow a team of 50 employees inspected your CD and polished it to make sure it was the best possible condition before mailing our world-renowned packing specialists lit a local artisan candle and a hush fell over the crowd as he put your CD into the finest gold line box that money can buy we all had a wonderful celebration afterwards and the whole party marched down the street to the post office where they’re in tap where the entire town of Portland wave bon voyage to your package on its way to you and our private CD baby jet on this day and then it would insert their day we hope you had a wonderful time shopping at cdbaby in commemoration we have placed your picture on our wall as customer of the year we’re all exhausted but can’t wait for you to come back to cdbaby com thank you thank you thank you sigh we miss you already we’ll be right but we’ll be right here at cdbaby.com patiently awaiting your return all your friends at cdbaby”

And then it has the rest of the email there now I put the link down below. So you can read the CD debut email and I recommend reading this email thinking why is it interesting why is it funny what can you take from it and I don’t recommend copying it word by word but what can you take from that and kind of put your own spin on for your thank you email. So another thing another very important thing with your automated emails is don’t let the funnel in and I can’t stress this enough just because someone purchased from you doesn’t mean that your job as a marketer is done I recommend in that email you should have links to social media you can also obviously put your own unique spin on it give them reasons to tell their friends but one thing that I try to do is give them a gift. So what I’ll do is actually give them the free page DIY guide another idea is maybe you have some kind of contest and you want to tell them for instance with me we have danced for the month contest. So we tell them hey when you receive your dance wear make sure you take a picture of yourself in it send it to us and we’re going to post it on our Facebook wall and you could enter to be dancer of the month. So think about ways you can customize your thank you emails and your other follow-up emails.
