Ecommerce News Episode 14 YouTube and Amazon FBA Update

Announcements

We have some big announcements and one of the first things we are going to talk about is YouTube inscreens. So, on YouTube, they now allow you to put a little box that says – like right down in here maybe, where at the end of your video you can – actually I think you can do it at anytime during your video, it would have a link to your video and it would show a little segment of the video, all that kind of stuff. It is really cool. I really excited about this because this makes it a lot easier to link to other videos. I am going to try to do an example of that right in here. I am going to hang it right around here. I will do a sample right over there. You will probably see me doing this in a lot of the videos that I do.

Why this is such a big deal is if you do not already have a YouTube channel for your ecommerce business, you should probably get one. I am very bullish on YouTube videos and YouTube channels. I think it is going to be, I mean there already is. It is already been proven to be the future of what people want. Our attention is going away from written text and into videos. Google is really pushing YouTube very hard. There are so many benefits to it. Plus it is a lot easier it is really easy to link to content. It is easy to capture people’s attention and it creates a connection with the viewer. I always talk about this but right now you are watching me, you are hearing me talk. That is way more impactful than if you write an article. Am I right? You probably do not care who I am. You do not know anything about me. You maybe look at the little bio at the bottom. But, out of thousands and thousands of articles, I do not know who wrote them. So, if you do not have a YouTube channel, get one for your ecommerce business. This is a big update for that.

Email Markup

Another update that I have is Email Markup. What this is is when you send out emails especially transactional emails, you are able to add – basically enhance the email things like tracking information and a bunch of different stuff like that. So, look up Email Markup. I think right now it is mostly just gmails supporting it. I am sure it will become a widely adopted soon enough.

Re My Company

So those are my two big ecommerce news items. But, now I want to talk a little bit about what I am doing with my business and a book that I am reading. It is just a little update about what is going on.

So, in this segment I am going to talk about B Dancewear. Because if you want to find out what I am doing with the company that I am starting right now, look up my 30 day Challenge. I am going to try to link it down here as well. So, look up my 30 Day Challenge video that I did. I am doing a whole series on Can I Start a Successful Business in 30 Working Days. I am currently only working one day a week but in the future, it will be more often. So, in this segment, I want to talk about B Dancewear and what I want to do with B Dancewear.

There are two big things I am working on right now. I have the final version of the catalog – I hope it will be the final one. We will call it Version 1.1 of the catalog done. I am just checking that over and everything looks good. I am going to order 1,000 of those and start sending them out to dance studios, influencers, etc. That is one of the big announcements.

Pinterest Ads

The next one is Pinterest Ads. Actually, I am not going to share it right here. Just because I think it is kind of a secret. I think I cracked a way that I can make Pinterest Ads successful for me. It still needs to be tested. I have not tested it fully.  We will see how that works.

Amazon Ads

The second thing is Amazon ads. I have only been doing the automatic bidding, doing the automatic stuff on Amazon ads. I do not know why I did not think of this earlier, but basically I am just going to copy all of my AdWords strategy, bring it over into Amazon. One thing about Amazon, just to keep in mind, is I think you can target terms that are a little bit broader. It does not have to be quite as long tailor narrow. Like in Google you want to be very long tailor and showing purchasing intent. On Amazon pretty much anything someone types in they have purchasing intent because it is not like they are looking for information. They are looking to buy something. So I am going to start working on my Amazon ads in the next few days. I am going to do one of two things. I will probably do a video in the next few days on Amazon ads. But, I am going to do one of two things. Either I am going to do it manually myself or they have a bulk tool where you can automatically bulk update stuff. So, I am playing with that. Actually, when I say I am going to do it myself, I mean I will have a VA do it. Anyway, I am going to be doing a video pretty soon on Amazon ads. So, look for that.

Last, but not least, the last thing I want to touch on. I have been reading the book The Lean Start-up. If you have not read it before and you are looking to start a business, or you have a business in the somewhat lean stages, I 100% recommend you read that book. There are a few things that I have really learned so far from reading the book. One, is you want to try and get a product up and get it out in the real world as soon as possible. The second thing is try to make a profit as soon as possible – not a profit, try to start making sales as soon as possible. Get a real customer’s feedback because it is one thing to get your buddy who is getting a free sample or a free experience with your company to comment on your company. It is different when someone is paying for it. They might have different ideas.
