How to Improve The 5 Most Undervalued Pages of Your Ecommerce Store

These are pages that many people do not pay a lot of attention to but they should. In this video and article I will tell you some helpful tips on how you can fix these pages so you can make more money while making your site look more professional.

First, let me tell you the general principle about all these.

You’re a small business, so own up to it. You are human and not a faceless company and people like to buy from other people. We may go to Wal-Mart because it is cheap there but a lot of times we often find ourselves choosing to spend more money just to be able to support that local business that we like. And this is what you are. You are that person who owns a local business that people would rather spend more money to go buy from.

Make a connection. We all like buying from other people especially to those people we like. So, your goal for all these pages is to actually make a connection with your customers, with the people that visit your website.
Make an impact. – When people come to your website, they should be blown away with how perfect your site is for them. For my website, Bdancewear.com my goal is to make people feel that my website is built exactly for them. The same point should also be applied to your website as well so when people come to your website it should make an impact and it should create a connection to them.

What are these 5 most undervalued pages of your ecommerce store?

1. About Us Page – this page is very critical because it tells people about your store. It should have a picture or a video on it. It should also have a story that connects. It could be a story about why you started your own company or online store. It also needs to have links to social media. Once they become curious about your About Us Page, people also might want to know more about you through social media. Maybe they want to like your Facebook page or your Instagram page.

In my About Us page, you can see there a video and a picture of my mom because she is the face of the business. We decided to put her picture there because she can connect more to dance studio owners more than I do. If you try to check out this page, you will notice that it is not extremely elaborate, nothing so crazy. But, it is 95 percent better than any other store pages that I’ve looked at.

When people hire me to make some audits with their online store, I notice most of the time that their About Us pages were mostly filled with just boring text that no one would ever want to read. But, if you put a video and a picture there, you will be able to connect more to your audience. Although some people do not like to watch a video, but once they do they can immediately feel the connection because we tell them in the video as to why we started our business.

2. Contact Us Page – Your Contact Us page should have your contact numbers, email address and make sure to make it personal. Don’t just put there a list of numbers to contact. Put some text that says something like “If you have questions, please feel free to contact us and we definitely would want to make you feel as happy as possible”. Your Contact Us page must convince people to actually dial the numbers and contact you. This is because once they choose to click on your Contact Us page chances are they really wanted to contact you. Make it as friendly as possible and as easy as possible for them to pick up the phone and dial your company’s contact numbers.

3. FAQ Page – your FAQ Page should answer real FAQs.

Post questions that people are actually asking.

One of the most common mistakes that people do (I’ve been guilty of this in the past as well) is that they answer a lot of questions in their FAQ page that customers were not actually asking. If people visit your FAQ page, it means they are one step away towards calling you. So, if you can answer the questions they have in mind on your FAQ page that’s even better.

Save customer time and bring more money to your company.

Another important thing about the FAQ page is that it will allow you to make more money. When a person lands on your FAQ page the reason most probably is that they have a question about your products or services. We all have been to websites before where we find ourselves getting confused whether we should purchase product A or product B. If people are able to get the answer to this question without a lot of work then they will more likely to buy it. Sometimes, when people visit an online store and they find themselves getting confused whether to purchase this or that and sometimes they just end up walking away from your website. Never let the same thing happen to your website.

Take note of questions you get from customer inquiries.

One of the best ways to generate Frequently Asked Questions to be posted on your FAQ page is to take note of the most common questions you are getting through emails or phone inquiries. This way, people also do not need to bother you further with their questions but instead purchase your products right away.

Make your FAQ unique and interesting.

You can make your FAQ page unique, interesting and engaging by creating a video for it. Also, please remember to state the answers in an energetic manner, not just in a boring, monotonous way.

4. Thank You Page

Create a video or post a picture.

Many people create a Thank You page that contains nothing but standard boring text. Don’t let this be you. Make your Thank You page interesting by personalizing it. You can do this by creating a video or by putting a picture on it. The picture can be a photo of you or somebody else’s that says “Thank You” for buying. It can also be a video of you saying “Thank you very much for buying from my company I really appreciate it”. Thus, you will be able to create an impact.

Don’t let the funnel finish.

Get your customers tied to your brand as much as possible. In my Bdancewear.com online store, we have a video that says thank you to people who bought dancewear clothing from us. It also says something like “If you want to know more about DIY dance costume techniques, you can go to our YouTube Channel”. So, the whole point of my Thank You Page is to get people to go to my YouTube Channel and my social media pages. It also encourages people to click on the link that takes them to our YouTube Channel. In other words, you have to make your customers as tied to your brand as possible to increase the chances of them becoming a repeat customer.

5. Shipping/Returns, etc.

Customize all your pages such as your Shipping and Returns pages. Personalize it by saying “Free shipping on all orders $50 and above”. Make it a little bit more interesting by adding a touch of human element in it. Although not everyone reads your Shipping or Returns page but a good percent of people do. So, add your own personal flare.

Plus, for more SEO juice, if Google sees that you have a bunch of unique content all throughout your page, they are more likely to rank you higher.
