How to Use the Facebook Ads Power Editor

In this video, we are going to talk about the power editor so the first thing to do is to actually get there. You can get there by clicking up here and going to Power Editor. Power Editor has a lot of very powerful tools that the regular Ads Manager does not. In fact, a lot of the time when they roll out new features, they will have it come out first in power editor and then later in ad manager – maybe never in just Ads Manager. In fact, lead ads, which if you watch a lot of my videos, you know that is one of my favorite, favorite types of Facebook ads. They originally came out in Power Editor and then later came out in Ads Manager. They never come out originally in Ads Manager. So, now we are here in Power Editor. There are a few things to know. One is if you make a change here you have to review the change and then you can add it. So, I have this campaign Test Website Clicks. Let’s go ahead and say – let’ say I wanted to edit this (Test Ad Edit women 45 – 60). Then say I wanted to make it 30 and adjust the budget. You would see it says Review Changes – It is having some issues there but basically the moral, the story is you see it says Review Changes, so you have to Review Changes and Continue before it will actually get set up in Ads Manager.
Let’s take a little book around Power Ad Editor now. The first thing to look at is these are all loops. This is the Campaign Level. This is the Ad Set Level and this is the Ads Level. If you were to click on this, I was to click on the “Test Website Clicks,” it will narrow it down. It will only show that information. I can go down to the ads. I can go here to the Ad Set within the Ad Set is the same one you saw a second ago. You can click this little edit button and add the name. You can go over here to the side and actually edit the real information. This is very similar to what we do in Ads Manager.
Now, sometimes it is kind of annoying, in my opinion, because sometimes when I go to the Campaign Level, there is only one campaign. All you have to do is to exit out of there. You can also add here (Campaign Delivery). These are basically filters so campaign, let’s see, say active – Let’s say I just wanted to show my active ones but only show active ones there. Let’s say I wanted to- there are also all of these filters here and I did a video before on all of these different types of filters. It works the same way in Power Editor.
Another thing that is interesting is duplicating. This is one of my favorite things, so one of the best things in my opinion about Power Editor. Let’s say I want to duplicate this (Duplicate Campaign). The number of duplicates one – test website clicks so you see there is a copy and I could change that to whatever. I won’t but if I did then I would have to go review changes and continue before it would actually apply.
So, there are a few things that are kind of interesting. Nothing too crazy. I will save for later my favorite part about Power Editor but let’s do a few other things before we get there.
Another thing you can do here is if I were to let’s say all these that have tests in them, I could apply a label on our campaign tags test. This just help for sorting purposes. Then if I wanted to, I could go down – oops – so, okay, – Obviously, we have to revert here quick draft and reports. I will do a different video about reports because I think that will be more important for later videos but now actually let me show you one of my favorite features.
So, here– (scrolls down), all right. Let’s take the DIY Guide lead generation. Let’s take that and one thing we can do is export it. Export selected and it is going to come up as a CSV and this just opens up the world is so much fun stuff. So, here is what it would look like. You can see here is my campaign. These are all the different ad sets right here. You can see the Ad Set ID. That Set Name is probably the easiest thing to look at. There is all the different Ad Set Names. Then we go down the line. A lot of these things you probably will not want to change. But there are certain things like, for instance, this is where it starts to get interesting. You could change – let’s say I wanted to copy all of these and make the same Ad Sets but all I wanted to do was change this from “women” to “men.” I could do that.
I am curious this might actually cause – there might be a small error. I do not remember if it is supposed to be “men” or “male” but since that is “women,” I assume it is supposed to be “men.” Let’s go ahead and delete. Let’s try this out though. I am going save this file – go to File Save as “Men DIY Guide Leads.” Now, let’s go back and let’s go to import ads in bulk, (Bulk Import), go ahead and drag that over here for one campaign ad. So, it is ten ads, so there are errors. Okay, there was an issue with the “men” that is not consistent with “women” from row 2. I think one of the issues was that I just copied this one and the Ad Set ID as well. I am going to try deleting that Ad Set ID. I forget exactly the proper way to do this. Let’s see what happens if I just do not eat the Ad Set ID this (error message comes up). This probably is not right. The next issue was the Ad Set ID needs to be deleted here, too. In Column DB, let’s see where else. So I deleted it here (Column J). Ad Set ID and Ad ID because the ads are also brand new and they are being associated with a past one (Bulk Import is complete). If you can see now, it was imported. Let’s see if it actually was due successfully. When I go in here –yep – you can see all the “men” ones were imported so the start time must be in the future. The problem was because I copied and pasted it. It had a little bit of an issue but that is an easy fix. I can just add the Ad Set. Yeah, and just change the start time there. I should have actually fixed that in here. I thought I did. I thought I had put the ad start time there but apparently, there were some issues. So, that is just something to look out for in the future but you see the basis of it. Basically, you export it. You have to export a file and you can manipulate it within the CSV. I could do another video about this that this is something you guys are interested in. I have not dived in too deep. You can see all the different columns you can see basically everything about it is here the call to action is it a “sign up” or is it a “learn more.” We have what kind of optimization goal lead obviously. Is it “active” or is it “paused.” We have the ad name, the link description, all kinds of stuff including the targeting. I am trying to find the targeting right now. It is got to be over this way. (Column CG). Yeah. You can see here so this is the custom audience. This is the Income. There is a bunch of data here and I know it looks kind of confusing, but you can see income equals. You know 125,000 – 150,000, 102,000, 250,000, etc., etc. There is so much stuff you can do by exporting this. But, it just makes it so if you want to duplicate lost of campaigns over and over again but changing little variables. You do not have to do these manually. You can do it in bulk like I just showed you there. Do not save. There are some of the big things about the Power Editor. To me, by far the biggest feature is being able to export and import new things. That does take a little bit of work to become very proficient at it but once you get good at it, you can just do so many cool things.
So, let me know if you have any questions on the Power Editor, but hopefully, this gives you some general answers.
