Why You Need to Be Running Facebook Ads for Your Ecommerce Business

There are a lot of reasons why you should be running ads on Facebook.

The First Two Major Reasons why you should be running Facebook ads:

1. There are 1.6 Billion people on Facebook.

This means your target demographic is probably on Facebook.

2. Facebook is the 2nd largest website in the United States

What does this mean to you? Well, if you are a smart marketer you probably are advertising in the first largest website- Google, by using Adwords. But Facebook is the second largest one so you probably should be running ads on it as well. If you’re still not convinced, let me tell you a few success stories. Here are some reasons why you should be running Facebook ads.

Me Undies
They made tons of money on Facebook ads. They did retargeting which means that when people go to their website and then they do not buy something but when they go to their Facebook page they will see an advertisement for Me Undies website. This works great because just imagine if everyone was thinking about buying but they were not really convinced and when they see your ad on their Facebook feed and find themselves clicking on it, they will be taken back to your website and finally buy something, it’s a good reminder. It is probably some of the cheapest traffic you can get to your website – retargeting traffic.

Blue Steel Jewelry
This company uses Facebook Pixel to do remarketing and create “look alike audiences “.

The Ridge Wallet
This company did something pretty amazing. They increase their sales for 30 per cent and got 9x ROI for every dollar spent. This means that for every dollar they spent, they were able to get 9 dollar back for revenue.

But, these are not the only companies who became successful because of running Facebook ads. In fact, there are too many companies who have been using Facebook ads to make their companies grow.

Google Adwords Has Become Pricey

A lot of people know about Adwords and in the early days, Adwords was very cheap. It was really easy to get cheap clicks to your website using Adwords. But when new technology comes out at the beginning it is really cheap, and as it becomes more popular the price goes up. Before, the clicks used to be so cheap now the same clicks cost a dollar or two dollars and even more.

Take Advantage of Facebook Ads while It’s Cheap

So now with Facebook ads, since it is currently cheap I want to take advantage of it before it gets too expensive. My thought is by the time that it gets expensive, and if I have been running them all along I will know how to make it profitable still.

Why is Facebook ads so powerful?

Highly targeted interest

You can highly target the interest that people have. For example, I have a dance clothing company bdancewear.com ecommerce store I might want to target women 30-45 years old that also have children that likes my competitors. Facebook allows you to do that- targeting exactly the right kind of people. They have way more advanced targeting options such as the following:

Remarketing

Basically, when someone comes to your website and Facebook sees that, they will put your ad on their Facebook platform.

Upload email lists

You can take your customer data, for example I’ve got 7500 customers and I take their data then upload it to Facebook. It’s like you are going to tell Facebook “Hey, Facebook I’ve got 7500 customers please show them my ads when they login to Facebook”. This is so powerful. You can tell Facebook exactly whom to target.

Look alike audiences

This is when you upload to Facebook the data of your for example, 7500 customers that you want to target on Facebook. Then Facebook will ask. ”What are these 7500 people have in common? You will then create another list of your look alike audience then Facebook will take that data and figure out what do these people have in common? Then they will give you another list of about a million people. Do all these 7500 people all happen to like dance related stuff? So here is another list of a million people that fit into those criteria. You can take that list and further narrow that down. Basically it allows you to take what you already know what works and duplicate it and expand upon it.

Lead Ads

If someone scrolls through your Facebook news feed they will see your ad and they click a button to get for example a free DIY dance costume guide. When they click on your ad, another screen will pop up saying “enter your email” and then Facebook will actually auto fill their email for them and all they have to do is say yes, send me the DIY guide. You will then get the email as the marketer and they will get the DIY guide. They do not have to go to a separate landing page. It is also good for Facebook because they won’t have to leave Facebook.

Video Views

You can post a video on Facebook and you can actually promote that video. Basically, Facebook is trying to compete with YouTube. They are trying to take over some of the YouTube’s market share. So when you go to your Facebook, a lot of times the videos will just auto play which means that they are very eye catching. What you can do is that write in the description “Hey, if you want get the full 116-page DIY Guide click on this link”. Hopefully people will be clicking that link and watch the videos. They key here is to make the video something that someone would like to share.

Create Social Proof

If your Facebook page only has 100 likes, it makes people think you are not legit. But, if you are getting 3000 or 10000 “likes” people will immediately think that you are a legitimate company. By running Facebook ads you can actually get likes even if you do not run “ads to get likes” you are still going to get buzz on your Facebook page.
