#1 Reason People Fail with Adwords

 

 

In this video, we’re gonna talk about the number one reason people fail with AdWords. Hi I’m Travis and I used AdWords to build a multi-million dollar revenue ecommerce business and I’ve helped a lot of other people do the same thing and I see people fail over and over again not necessarily my clients but other people of course but why do they fail and I like to dissect why they’re failing and it comes to basically two things I’ll start with what I think is the number one most important thing and that’s not selecting proper keywords in AdWords to bid on they build things that they think for whatever reason are gonna be successful but they’re the wrong things. So how do you know what the right keywords are their keywords that people type in right before they purchase not a day before they purchase not a week before they purchase right before they purchase what’s an example of one of these well my one of my businesses that I built using AdWords was a dance clothing business.

I would never never do dance clothing as a keyword even though that’s something that my you know that’s how I just described my business I would never bid on dance clothing because someone’s searching for dance clothing is looking at such a broad thing they’re maybe just doing research they’re just trying to figure out what dance clothing is they’re trying to find articles on what the best pieces of dance clothing are they’re not necessarily looking to buy maybe a small percentage of them are but the wide majority or not now maybe a slightly better keyword would be dance shorts okay at least they know what type of dance clothing they want but they’re still maybe looking for pictures they’re maybe looking at more of a research the different styles a better one might be ivory dance shorts okay at least they’re getting a little bit more specific here and I would totally bid on ivory dance charts but an even better one would be ivory high-waisted dance shorts because that’s.

Specific you’re not typing that in unless you’re ready to purchase something. So this is the difference between long tail and short tail keywords. So long tail would be high-waisted every dance shorts it’s long it’s got a long tail I don’t I guess that’s why they call it that versus dance shorts which is short tail it’s it’s. So broad that not as many people are willing to purchase now way more people search dance shorts than ivory high-waisted and shorts but I’m gonna make more money off the ivory high waistband short app by far and the other part about it is when I’m showing my ad my ad copy directly correlates with that search term the title will be ivory high-waisted shorts and then it’ll have you know really well crafted at the rest of the ad copy will be really well crafted as well.

This is the number one most important thing this is one of the reasons why I see people fail over and over again is they don’t think through proper keywords the number two reason why people fail over and over again that I’ll just quickly touch on is they don’t review their AdWords they set it up once and then they let it go no no no AdWords is an iterative process it’s a version 1.0 version 2.0 version 3.0 and I actually do this all I’ll set up AdWords I’ll let it go for a few months and then I’ll go in and make massive changes and you’ll see my revenue if you go back a few years you’ll see my revenue spiked and you can see version 1.0 of AdWords version 2.0 of AdWords version 3.0 of AdWords and it’s as I get more data definitely you’re paying for with AdWords don’t expect to make money right off the bat you’re paying for the data and then you know maybe you set up ten campaigns nine of them fail but one of them successful you turn off the other you turn off nine and you get that one you learn from the mistakes and you iterate on the process.
