How to Launch a Product using Kickstarter

In this video, we’re going to talk about how to launch a product using Kickstarter this is a question I’ve been getting a lot a lot ate a lot recently. So I decided to make a video to answer this question in depth and if you don’t know I actually documented I launched a Kickstarter just a little while ago and I documented the entire process I did it in 30 working days.

So I worked for 30 days and launched this Kickstarter for performance nut butter and then I even vlog during the whole 30 days of the Kickstarter. So I shared all my secrets but let me just still down 30 days’ worth of information into this one video how do you launch a Kickstarter that will work but will get funded you’ll make a lot of money. So I set a lofty goal for this company performance, not butter I set the goal at $10000, which to a lot of people is crazy and I actually ended up raising $15000, and it is 100% because of my strategy I have two strategies I’m going to share with you guys. So it’s a two-pronged approach here and they’re both very different the first one is collecting emails and I’ll just give a brief overview collecting emails which is obviously creating a drip campaign but there’s one element that most people don’t do is also creating a Facebook group.

So collect emails dip them into a Facebook group and then create a drip campaign both email drip campaign and a Facebook group drip campaign. So let me talk about this in detail because I’m. So sick of answering this question in person to people I just wanted to make this video and let’s start off with the very basics. So you want to find a way to collect emails it doesn’t matter how you do it needs to be targeted you want to collect emails from people that are interested in your what you’re selling. So what I did has I created an Instagram page I created two actually one that was my own brand just Travis Marziani and the other one was a performance nut butter and the reason I did this is that I figured it’s double the exposure and I did different targeting on both.

So what I did is I had a in the bio section I said if you want to enter to win a free draw performance nut butter click the link below and then I sent them to a lead page where I collected their email now on the pages on the Instagram pages I posted relevant content that would be interesting to people in my niche which were the performance niche which is both mental and physical performance. So think CrossFit think athletes think of biohackers if you’re familiar with that term. So I figured out a bunch of different things and sometimes I post about the products as well sometimes.

I’d say hey guys here’s the latest recipe or here’s some sample jars on coming up with blah blah blah whatever all kinds of good stuff I also and I’m borderline whether or not I should say this I may or may not have used a service that automatically follows people and likes their photos and comments on their photos and the reason that I may or may not have done this is it gets people to your page now you can do this manually you could actually just go in and search through hashtags comment on people’s photos and that’s actually probably the better way to do it if you have the time that is a better way to do it but. So I collected emails using Instagram the next thing I did was emailed every single person that subscribed to my email list individually well at least it appeared that way to them I actually wrote a computer script that sent automatic emails every time someone signed up for me to my email list and it would basically say hey what’s up I’m Travis this is going to be my new company and then I asked them a question which I think is very important I started a conversation I said you know hey my name is Travis what do you do for fun by the way just.

So I can get a better idea of my target audience then when they responded I’d say wow that’s really awesome I also like to do yoga hike whatever it was I tried to relate to them somehow unless there’s something totally random then I would say wow that’s really cool tell me more about it after that when they would respond I then invited them to my Facebook group. So I got this Facebook group which had by the time I launched performance nut butter had people in it and they were all interested in my product now this is a very important aspect of it that most people don’t do most people don’t even know about as far as I mean I’m sure some people did I’m sure I didn’t invent it but it really helped out and the reason was I would post updates about the product.

I’d say hey guys one month until the Kickstarter launch here’s the labels what do you think of this one versus this one and people would comment and people would be excited and people would be able to see other people’s excitement now that’s the important part it wasn’t just a one-on-one connection it was a group of us and we’re all in this together we created a community that we were all trying to launch this product together. So it’s not about me it’s not about my company it’s about us and a product that we’re trying to create. So that was very important I also at the same time did do a drift campaign at an email what a drift campaign is saying hey we’re two weeks away from launch now we’re one week away from launch three days until launch it’s the day of the launch you know and. So it’s all about that build-up and dripping out little pieces of content one of the things I did was videos I’d film videos and say you know whatever one week to launch share this video for a chance to win blah blah blah you can see everything I did have you joined the performance nut butter launch group on Facebook you can see all of it now the second thing and this is another thing that’s fairly unique I the principle isn’t unique but the way I went about it is fairly unique was influencers I got a lot of influencers on board from my product launch and part of the reason they like my product was because it’s I selected influencers that I knew would like my products 100%.

So what I did that was unique that I don’t know of anyone else that least that admits to using this tactic is I went and I have a personal podcast which if you don’t have a podcast of a blog or a YouTube channel I recommend getting one of those for the reason I’m about to talk about but I have a personal podcast that I invited these people on and they were flattered most of them were flattered because I said hey you’re. So cool I want you to come on my podcast I want to share your story with my audience I’m all about you know I’m trying to give at give and give here I’m not trying to take anything from them I’m not trying to take I’m not saying hey here’s a product can you promote it I’m saying I have this awesome podcast in this awesome platform I want to interview you on it. So then I would interview the people on my podcast share it with my audience and at the end of our hour long interview I said to them by the way I’m starting cert in this company what do you think about it I ask them questions and if they say wow that sounds really stupid I’d say okay well thank you for your time bye if they say wow that sounds really cool or they have any kind of feedback I’d say to them can I send you a sample jar and nine times out of ten they would say yes and not all of them would when I send the jar not all of them would respond nine times out of ten days we say yes now a good portion of people that got the jar love the product and then they would post about it.

So those are the two prongs I did one was creating an email list a drip campaign a Facebook group all that that’s like this over here and the other part was getting influencers and you can get influencers in other ways I also got influencers off Instagram just by commenting messaging them direct message getting influencers not hard you can email people but it does take some legwork. So those are the two things I would say you should do if you’re launching a product on Kickstarter if you have any questions please feel free I answer every single question that is asked to me you can leave a question down below in the comments section you want to get a checklist for starting your Kickstarter or your online store click up here you get a free checklist it’s my e-commerce success fact I have a ton of great information in there how to hire a virtual assistant marketing ideas you name it it’s probably in there last but not least if you enjoyed this video please click that subscribe button down below over here somewhere thank you for watching this video and I hope you enjoyed it.
