Why Starting a Dropshipping Store is A Waste of Time

In this video we’re going to talk about why starting an online Dropshipping store is a waste of time now disclaimer I’m about to piss off a lot of people and you know what I have some friends that do make money with Dropshipping but I personally think it’s a waste of time for a lot of reasons number one I think it’s a waste of time because you are building something that someone else can copy. So easily if I want to if you’re selling the Dropshipping website and I want to start a Dropshipping website selling the same products I can do it no problem the one thing I will say to that is yes you might be able to build better SEO or better content over time but I think those days are numbered I think that Amazon is going to be taking over a lot of those websites the reason a lot of people will go to Dropshipping website is maybe they need to buy camping supplies.

So they’ll go to your camping drop shipping website but you know what pretty soon all those people are going to be going to Amazon it’s already happening Amazon I think and the numbers might be a little bit off but something like forty to sixty percent I don’t know the exact number forty six percent of all ecommerce transactions happen on Amazon. So drop shipping isn’t really what I’d recommend I’d recommend building a brand I think building a brand building a company for instance I came up with this company performance nut butter it’s an it’s a nut butter an individual servings pack nut butter geared towards athletes and it’s a brand that I can sell on my own website I can create an Instagram page I can still I can sell on Amazon and be very hard for Amazon to rip off my brand now I will say there’s some other reasons too that I don’t like drop shipping it’s just.

So it’s too easy Amazon is going to be taking it over and you’re not really adding a lot of value to the world. So I think when you’re starting a business you have to ask yourselves how much value am I adding to the world and you are adding some with the Dropshipping website without a doubt let’s say you have a camping supplies drop shipping store and you know people don’t know where to go get camping supplies which shouldn’t be the case they should be able to figure that out they will be able to find your website and you know you’ll be able to rank it in Google you’ll be able to do product listing ads all that kind of stuff. So there is some value but it is not a lot stopping somebody else from doing it. So it’s definitely doable and I will say if you’re a beginner and you want to just get your hands dirty in the world of Ecommerce yes by all means start a drop shipping website it costs very little to get started which goes to my first point that because it costs a little as it gets started it’s easy for other people to copy it once again when I was creating this brand it probably cost me over $10000, before I got my first sale it wasn’t cheap. So I’m not worried about Joe Schmo trying to copy what I did with my company now will there be competitors that come up after me even with this company 100% yes but to get back to what I was just saying I think it is decent for beginners if you’ve never done a ecommerce website before and you want to just test it out go ahead and do it

I know people that do make money with drop shipping but I know a lot of people that lose money and a lot of times what people do with drop shipping the way they make their money is product listing ads and I love product listing ads I think they’re absolutely amazing but it’s hard to make them profitable if you only are getting 20 or 30% from drop shipping the other thing I always want to add to the problem another problem with drop shipping is if I’m the manufacturer of a good and I’m drop shipping for somebody else eventually I think most people that are doing drop shipping are going to get smart enough and they’re going to just start selling it directly through Amazon and cutout and say hey I’m not going to like I’m not going to let you drop ship through your website anymore. So you don’t control your own destiny very much with drop shipping the good thing once again about having my brand if Amazon says you know what we don’t sell your product anymore I can still sell through my own website if something happens on my own website I could still sell wholesale I own this company.

I own this brand when you’re doing drop shipping all you really own is your domain name enough all the drop shippers decide yeah we don’t want to do this for you anymore there is nothing you can do.
