Action Items to Create a Brand for Your Online Store

It is the time in the course for this module on action items. This is the first one, the first time for you to do an action item. You paid money for this course, so it makes sense for you to actually just write down one to three goals and these have to be measurable things. I will use the example of my goal which is to make $5,000 within three months of starting this business – a $5,000 profit in my hand.  The next step is to write down why that is your goal. If it is like my goal of obtaining $5,000, why do you want $5,000? What is it going to do for you? Is it because you want to take a better vacation this year? Is it because you want to whatever? Try to go as deep as you can on this and really dive down to determine why you want to do this because if you do not have a good “why ” you probably are not going to be motivated enough to take the effort that it is going to take to create a successful ECommerce business. So, really dive deep on that one.

After that, talk to three people in your demographic. I am not asking you to do a lot here. Just three people talk to them and try to figure out if your idea is actually a good idea. What can you learn? Maybe you need to pivot slightly. Maybe you should be going this way but you just need to go a little bit over here. So, talk to three people in your demographic. It is not necessary for you to do anything super formal. I do have links below on worksheets that you can use when asking questions, but that is the next action item.

Once that is done, research your idea on Google. It is super simple to do. I have a whole module or little lesson on this and I show you step by step on how to do it. Just do a very basic search. Try to figure out as much as you can about your niche, about your idea. Is it going to work? Do you need to take a different approach? What are your competitors doing that you should do? What are they not doing that you should do? Things like that.

Next, create one avatar. I want you to create an avatar and I use my example of Jill who is a 45-year-old woman who likes Loehmans, Macy’s, Victoria’s Secret. She likes to do yoga. She stays active. Who is your target ideal customer? What does your avatar look like? I have a worksheet below on how to do that as well. But, I recommend getting a picture, if you can, of what your ideal customer would look like.

The next step is to do keyword research. This is something a lot of people skip over. When I found out that you can do keyword research, it was mind blowing. It was probably one of the best of the early things that I learned about the power of Google and the internet. So do your keyword research. Do some research on what your domain name should be and things like that?

Then, and this is key as well, buy a domain name. A lot of people want to wait to buy a domain name. It costs anywhere from $1 to $15 for a year. It is a very small investment and it is a hundred percent worth doing early on so go ahead and buy a domain name.

I believe the last thing to do is get a logo. Even if it is from Fiverr, just go out and get a logo. You can make it yourself. There are programs available to do that. If you really want to, you can create a logo in Paint. I do not recommend that but it is an option. But, no matter what, at this stage, you should get a logo before moving on to the next module of the course. Of course, if you want to move on to the next module, be my guest. However, you paid for this course and these action items are what I think are by far the most important so I hope you follow these steps.
